Pine Meadow lies just east of the center of New Hartford on Route 44, approximately 20 miles west of Hartford, capital of Connecticut. A rural community, New Hartford was settled in 1733 and is situated on the watershed of the Farmington River. It is nestled in the scenic Litchfield Hills of Northwest Connecticut.
Pine Meadow boasts a "village green" utilized year-round by various civic organizations for activities such as Christmas tree sales & craft shows. The Town of New Hartford erects a temporary ice skating rink on the green during the winter.
St. John's Church is located directly across the street from the Pine Meadow Green. We make use of the green for our annual ECW Chicken Bar-B-Q and Farmer's Market during the summer months.
Driving directions to St. Johns
From Torrington: Come up Route 8 through Torrington until Rt. 8 ends in Winsted. At the dead end, which is the junction with Rt. 44 you turn left. Go 7 or 8 miles into New Hartford (Pine Meadow is a section of New Hartford.) In the town center you will come to a light which is the intersection with Route 219 and Rt. 44. Go straight through the light for about 3/4 mile. You will see a green on your right and a white frame church with red doors. That is St. John's. Take a soft right into Church Street.
From Canton: Come on Route 44 from Canton. You should pass a sign for New Hartford and an Episcopal Church sign. The church is about 1.7 miles ahead on the left. You will see the white frame church with the red doors on the other side of the green. At the end of the green, take a hard left--almost a hairpin. Park you car and come through the doors.
