St. John’s Pine Meadow is seeking a part-time organist/choirmaster for our music ministry. The organist/choirmaster provides leadership for music ministry and direction and instruction of the choristers. In addition, they play preludes, postludes, and improvisational interludes as needed during liturgical transitions.
Currently, the parish has one service weekly. Choir traditionally practices from September through Pentecost (end of May), focusing on Christmas Lessons and Carols with additional involvement for Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Holy Week & Easter, and Christmas Eve.
We are looking for a person who enjoys liturgical music traditions, as well as openness to incorporating diverse musical styles. Our choir has enjoyed singing musical pieces ranging from the Renaissance to American Gospel and 20th century composers. We also want a person who is comfortable with encouraging congregational singing.

Core Responsibilities
- Serve as organist and choir director.
- Select choir music. Plan and direct choir rehearsals.
- Select and prepare appropriate music for services; preludes, postludes and choir anthems.
- Plan the hymn, psalm, and anthem schedule for the church year in coordination with the rector.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in organ performance, choral direction, sight reading, and piano/keyboard skills
- Strong organizational, collaboration, and communication skills

- Hours: 10-14 hours/week
- Salary $18,000-$24,000 annually, depending on experience
- Funerals and Weddings are paid for separately; $200 per service.
- 4 weeks of vacation, including 4 Sundays
